Freedom-First Dev is my platform to document the process of building a career around time, location, and financial freedom as a developer.

Here I share strategies for earning independently through freelancing, contracting, and digital products. I document the templates, systems, and tools I actually use in my day-to-day work. You'll find the real mistakes I've made, the wins I've celebrated, and honest experiences from every stage of the journey. And eventually, you'll see the book Freedom-First Software Dev, which I'm writing as I build this path.

This is not about quitting your job tomorrow. It's about building leverage so your income, time, and location are decisions you control.

My Story

I started as a developer in a media agency in Germany. After spending years in salaried jobs, I watched my soul fade away in the 9-5 loop. I met several full-time freelancers along the way who worked remotely and chose their own projects. I was immediately hooked.

I made the switch to full-time freelancing, and later moved into high-paid contract roles earning €10k–14k per month. But even (or especially) at that level, I was still chained to hours, calls, and deadlines. So I sold my belongings, bought a one-way ticket to Southeast Asia, and started building my own dream.

That's when I realized freedom isn't just about where you work. It's about why, how, and with whom you work. Now I'm building digital products and systems so my income doesn't depend only on the hours I put in.
